Artist Bio:
Thea North is a documentary photographer from Reading, UK, who works predominantly with black and white digital imagery. Thea’s use of black and white purposefully allows the viewer to focus more intently on the emotions and nuances of the moment, left free from distractions and pushing the truth of the different scenes she photographs.
Her work looks at subjects that carry personal histories or struggles. These works include the International Women’s day march 2024 in London and more recently, exploring UK therapy spaces. These are stories that are often hidden in plain sight and are vital to understand the world we live in. North’s areas of interest expand to travel documentary, which helps to capture different stories and moments that the general public may never know about. This has intertwined into her recent works, with the exploration of mental health spaces and how they can have varied impacts on patients in different places.
